I feel like I owe you guys a post with actual content about my life regarding something other than moving, so I figured I’d share a little assortment of photos from my phone. It’s the easiest way to make a coherent post about a bunch of totally random things ;). Here’s what I’ve been up to lately:
Memorial Day weekend was a nice mix of work and play. I worked all day on Sunday, but my sister and her boyfriend were in town on Friday night and Saturday (she goes to college in the Upper Peninsula) so I got to spend the day with her on Saturday. We all went wine tasting with my mom out in Leelanau County and hit up a total of five different wineries.
The weather was gorgeous – it was the first nice weekend we had seen in months – so it was a perfect day to spend out and about. We were thankful to have our mom as our DD 🙂
On the holiday itself, I took advantage of the sun again and went on my annual Memorial Day bike ride. It was actually my first ride of the year, so it was more difficult than I anticipated. I rode on out on Old Mission Peninsula and covered about 23 miles in total.
I stopped a few times to take some pictures because the views were beautiful. This will always be my favorite place to bike.
There were some pretty hilly areas and they quickly reminded me how out of shape I am.
All in all it was a great ride and is always a fun way to spend the first holiday of the summer.

Later that week, I met up with a couple girlfriends (Elena and Amanda) for a concert here in town.
The show featured Theory of A Deadman, Adelitas Way, and two other bands that I can’t remember. I’ve seen Theory of A Deadman twice before and Adelitas Way once, so I was pretty excited to see them again as they are two of my favorite bands. When Adelitas Way was done performing we had the opportunity to meet and chat with the band. I purchased a T-shirt and asked the lead singer to sign it. Then I got a picture with him! Very cool.

Last weekend, my good friend Elly and I got dinner in Elk Rapids and had a few more drinks than we originally planned, so we decided to walk it off and have a little photo shoot downtown by the lake.
Elly is one of my closest friends. I met her in my first class on my first day of college – nearly eight years ago! We then went through the rigorous (or so we thought at the time) pre-pharmacy program together, and then somehow survived pharmacy school and graduated together, and now we work in neighboring towns. We have had a lot of fun over the years and I am really going to miss her when I’m gone!
Lilacs!
Haha.

Other than that, I’ve really just been spending as much time outside as I can since the weather is so perfect right now. I go to the hot tub almost every night with my neighbors (I’m so bummed that my apartment in Grand Rapids doesn’t have a pool/hot tub), and Mikey and I like to chill out on my patio and watch the birds.
I live on the second floor and don’t trust him not to try to jump off the balcony, so he has to wear his leash. Oh, and don’t feel bad for him – he doesn’t mind it at all. He actually rolls around and tries to play with the leash until he sees a bird. Then he forgets he even has it on.
Unfortunately I haven’t had much time to relax at the pool or the patio this week until tonight. Yesterday I was in Lansing all day for some training for work and didn’t get home until late.
Then I had to be back at work early this morning and of course we were crazy busy all day. Work is going to be quite stressful over the next three weeks because of my transfer and move, so all I wanted to do when I got home was hug my kitty and crack open a beer.
Sooo, I did.
And now the hot tub is calling my name.
Wine tasting was fun with your sister and her boyfriend, wasn’t it! I love the format of this new blog. Love you.
Your biking scenery looked beautiful. Will you be able to do biking in Grand Rapids?
Yes! They actually have quite a few different trails. They don’t have views of the bay, but they are still nice 🙂
